The 2017 Rolex Fastnet Race is already setting a record before the start of the event. The race event will be held in Cowes on 6th August. The event has already grabbed the headlines and has become the largest ever entry in the Fastnet Race.

This year a total of 400 boats will be at the start line of the Fastnet Race at Cowes on Sunday. This is the first time in the 92-year-old history of the classic 600 mile race that so many boats are taking part.

A lot of island residents and the boats have already registered for the event and they belong to various sailing clubs and yacht clubs in this area. Apart from the newbies and locals, there are plenty of well-known entries that will be taking part in this prestigious racing event.

Despite the Rolex Fastnet Race is a very old race, there will be a lot of youth teams taking part in the event this Sunday. The age group of 17 to 22 years is the average age of the youth crew and this makes it the youngest ever youth members to take part in the Rolex Fastnet Race.

This race will also see familiar legends in action. The legend of the Finnish Whitbread Round the World Race LuddeIngvall is in action this year. If you remember, he has put up the most stupendous show in the Fastnet Race in the race’s history. He had skippered Nicorette then and he finished 24 hours before the next boat. He still recalls that moment when he won the Line honors as well as the handicap ‘double’.

There are other challenges that Ludde has to face in this year’s race with the likes of George David from America, Dee Caffari, and lots more set to compete in the Fastnet Race.
